James started his artistic path during elementary school; at the time his family was stationed at Yokota Air Force Base in Japan. There he learned how to draw and became attached to Japanese art and culture as well as video games and Japanese animation. At this point, he knew he wanted to become involved with art in one form or another. This soon changed when his family moved to another base. Art and drawing took a backseat and wouldn’t see the front until he went to college. While in college, he took up a degree program in Art and Graphic Design. After graduating with an Associate degree, he began working with website design and started taking extra classes in 3D animation. After taking a weekend workshop with Eric Hanson, James knew he wanted to get into video game development. What Mr. Hanson said to him about the video game industry being “more creative and an expanding medium for art” set James on the path he is on today. His mind is always open to learning new things and ideas; he doesn’t have the typical thinking of what’s “outside-the-box”, but instead– “let’s push the box over to see what’s outside.” |
